  • Less than 20% of plastic discarded is recovered or recycled.
  • Just 6% of packaging contains recycled plastic.
  • Industry generates 6.7 million tonnes of packaging annually.

Australia’s waste crisis is escalating due to weak regulations and industry failures. Together, we can change the tide on single-use plastics by introducing strong Product Stewardship Policies in Australia.

The Boomerang Alliance is taking action to stop plastic pollution at its source. We’re not just tired of plastic clogging our oceans, streets, and ecosystems—it's also threatening our health.

This isn’t the consumer’s fault. These brands continue to put profits ahead of our planet, ignoring more sustainable alternatives. But here’s the good news: we now have an opportunity to create real change. The Commonwealth Government is about to introduce new packaging rules under a Product Stewardship Scheme, designed to hold businesses accountable for their waste.

This is our moment to push for a future free of plastic pollution. By taking a stand, we can help stop the flow of plastic from entering our homes, our bodies, and our backyard.
